Dear Eagles Families & Staff,
We are excited to announce that all K-5 students will be using iReady to enhance their reading comprehension skills. iReady is a computer-adaptive program that adjusts to each student's level while appropriately challenging them. It provides personalized reading practice and engaging digital tools to help students improve. For students in grades 3-5, this is especially beneficial as they prepare for the NYS ELA exam next month. iReady will help sharpen their reading skills as we sprint towards the test.
This week, grades 3-5 are working on taking a diagnostic and completing one 45-minute period of practice. Grades K-2 are working on getting students and families their logins, and next week they will be completing their diagnostic. We appreciate your support in finding time, in addition to the carved-out time during the school day, to ensure every child works on iReady for a minimum of 45 minutes a week.
Thank you for your support!
Mr. Proscia & Ms. Mazza

Dear Eagle Community,
Get ready for an exciting and heartwarming celebration! Each year, we designate a specific week in February to celebrate Respect for All Week, an initiative that has been a cherished tradition within the NYCDOE since 2007. This year, we will be celebrating Respect for All Week from February 10-14, and we want everyone to join in the fun and festivities!
As part of our plan this year, we will have two special t-shirt days. On Tuesday, February 11th, we will celebrate “Because You Got a Friend In Me” by wearing Disney-themed shirts. Then, on Friday, Valentine's Day, we will celebrate “Heartfelt Friday” by wearing shirts that capture the spirit of love.
We want to ensure everyone has enough time to get a shirt if they don't already have one. Let's make sure every student can participate and feel included in these special days. We look forward to an exciting week filled with respect, friendship, win-win thinking, paying it forward, and love! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1K96V9QPKyQw8pIoaXm4lfQhNKocOR_uqljWvhukPDVc/edit?usp=sharing

WINTER- FAMILIES
As a proud Leader in Me Lighthouse School, we are committed to teaching 21st-century leadership and life skills, fostering a culture of student empowerment grounded in the belief that every child can be a leader and all children have genius in them.
This winter, as part of our Comprehensive Educational Plan (CEP) Goals, we will conduct a survey to better understand our strengths and identify areas where we can grow as a school community. In order to gain a comprehensive perspective, we are inviting all full-time staff members, parents/guardians, and students in Grade 4 and up to participate.
Parent Participation: We are striving for 100% participation from our families. The survey is anonymous and can be completed using the link below. While participation is voluntary, your feedback is incredibly valuable in helping us shape the future of our school. We encourage one member from each household to take part.
The survey will take approximately 12 minutes to complete and will ask about your child's experience at PS 23. If you have more than one child attending our school, please respond with the experiences of your oldest child in mind.

Dear Eagle Families,
Since yesterday, there has been a citywide issue preventing us from updating and printing your child's report cards. As the NYPS works on resolving the issue, we unfortunately have to postpone the printing and release of the report cards, which were originally scheduled to go home on Monday, December 9th. Once the issue is resolved, we will send another message announcing when they will be sent home and released on your NYC Schools Account (NYCSA). We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. Please continue to communicate with your child's teachers if you have any further questions.
